Wild Witch Bear (3)

On to the bear itself. I mentioned a while ago in one of my posts that I’m making this bear in collaboration with Kympatti Bears Australia (an internationally respected bear maker located on the Gold Coast).
As the bear is going to be a witch bear, part of that collaborative design process was to alter the nose to look more pointed and match in with the logo. However, as this is a teddy bear and therefore cuddly by nature, artistic licence decided that the point should face up, not down. The forehead was also given more height than usual to allow for a witchy hat. Notice that any old scrap of paper will do to get the creativity flowing.

Next up, shopping to buy materials for the clothes. I had to match the branding colours and I think you’ll agree, if you compare them to the logo, that it was a worthwhile trip. How exciting!

This is the beginning of my Wild Witch Bear.
I chose this fur fabric because the bear itself will be mostly hidden behind clothes so it’s important that what does show has a nice wild feel to it. If you look at my website or logo you’ll notice that the colours I use are grey, black, teal and a little dark blue thrown in. As this bear will become my mascot I wanted to use the same colours as my branding.
The first thing to do is to dye the fur fabric grey as this will be the colour of the finished bear. You can see the result of the grey dye and the original creamy colour of the fur fabric above.
